Established by Lonrho Africa, the Jane Goodall Institute, and Kenya Wildlife Services, the sanctuary provides a haven for orphaned and abused chimpanzees. With 24-hour veterinary care and a stimulating quarantine enclosure, new arrivals are carefully rehabilitated before joining one of the two large groups living in natural enclosures separated by the Ewaso Nyiro River. The chimps enjoy set feeding times, indoor enclosures at night, and days filled with exploring, climbing, and socializing. The sanctuary is a testament to successful conservation and is a delightful place to visit.
